Where breeding traditional, typical, strong Labradors with sound balanced temperaments, that can still fulfil a day’s work in the shooting field is of paramount importance.

I have trained dogs for the shooting field from many gundog breeds, for my own experience and enjoyment and to try and understand the varying attributes of all the breeds.
All of the dogs have added to my knowledge and developed my skills further as a trainer.
I was granted my Affix of Artistryn on 1st March 1989.
Generations Of Artistryn Gundogs
I bred my first litter in 1994 and then continued breeding over the years, gaining in knowledge and experience until in 2013 I bred a litter which included Artistryn Ulrich and the very talented sister Artistryn Usha.
FTCH Artistryn Ulrich qualified FIVE consecutive times for the Retriever Championship, and it was only the onset of covid that curtailed his trialling career.
FTCH Artistryn Ulrich finished second in the 2018 Retriever Championship and had a Diploma of Merit in the 2019 Retriever Championship.
STUD DOGS
I strongly believe that temperament, conformation and natural working ability are the essential ingredients in producing quality shooting companions.
All of my stud dogs have DNA health tests, in addition to the hips and elbows being scored under the BVA scheme and clear eye certificates.
They are proven in the field as shooting dogs before being considered as STUD dogs.
All of the stud dogs are available for natural matings.
ARTISTRYN WORKING DAMS
All of my bitches have to work in the field. None are kept purely as brood bitches. The bitches that are selected to be bred from, must have demonstrated the qualities of good temperament, excellent conformation, a willingness to please, and showed good natural ability in the field.
The bitches have DNA health tests done, in addition to the hips and elbows being scored under the BVA scheme, and clear eye certificate.
The bitches are not always owned by me, and are not always available for viewing at my kennels.
